What is more important to a publisher: your story (plot) or your writing?

Story & Character Development
Jaclyn asked:

I mean, what if my IDEA or my story is great, but my writing is average? Will the publisher help me out, or will they make me write a better story? I hope this doesn’t sound like a stupid question. :P Thanks in advance!

where can i sell film ideas/ scripts?

Script Writing Tips
James W asked:

I live in England, and have Millions (not millions) of film ideas and have started writing a few of them out, I am not dedicated to any of them though and flit between them all, i would like to sell some of my babies so i can:
a) focus on fewer script ideas
b) have money so i can dedicate more of my day writing scripts, novels etc.

I have many novel ideas too but have been focusing on my film ideas because i feel there is more money in films, No one pays to go and see a book, do they? (I am sure there are famous books that people pay to see, do not correct me on this unless your ego craves it). I basically want to make my bucks then do it purely for the art of it. I have written lots of short stories and poems to sell too and am finding short story websites rubbish im afraid to say, would a publisher buy short stories or poems or collections of either or would me being a complete unknown be far too risky for them? I am totally ignorant of selling my work so any tips hither or thither would be fantastic, but mostly i want to know, who will buy my roses? thanks in advance to any useful tip bringers to my question of many branches.
NB. this is not an example of my finest work.

Where do they film movies currently?

movies and film
fal8383 asked:

Is there a website where you can see where a movie is currently being filmed?

I am going to New York this Friday for 6 days and hopefully there will be a film set somewhere in New York. Perhaps there is a site where to check in which area they are filming for a movie?

Thanks in advance

I want to start making my own short movies?

Script Writing Tips
LinnLovestruck<3 asked:

So, I have a couple of questions.

1. Anyone have any tips for camera angles and things? We only have one camera, but I want to make the movies, like, good quality.
2. Anyone got any ideas on how to ask my friends about starring in it? I’ve not actually told them about the fact that I’ve been writing scripts, because it probably seems quite nerdy to them
3. What’s the best way to get the sound displayed really well? As I mentioned, I only have the camera, so would I have to have it on a really calm day so the wind doesnt mess it up, or what?

Thanks in advance!

What is a good way to build characters for a story?

Story & Character Development
blitzingheaven asked:

I’m writing a new story and I’m formulating characters, but unlike my other story where my characters came easily, I’m having problems creating and visualizing characters without being influenced. An example is, if I try to think of a king or a warrior I think of the movie character Aragon from lord of the rings…

What can I do to help me formulate memorable characters? What about memorable locations in the story so that I dont just add them for filler?

Thanks in advance.

In search of pretty cursive script?

Script Writing secrets
Serena T asked:

Hey, I’m looking for some examples of actually hand written script/cursive (not a computer generated font). I’m looking for a more casual or modern form, not the ornate older kinds that take hours to draw. A good example of the kind of script I’m looking for is this one post secret…

Anyway, any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What magical power should this story character have?

Story & Character Development
The Writer asked:

Okay, the character’s name is Blake. He’s a boy that is trouble, on the verge of evil, average weight, tanner skin, but has temperment problems.

What should he have for a power in the magical world?

Sorry, just a random story that is driving me crazy thinking about! Thanks in advance and please no mean comments.
Okay, the suggestions I like the most are:

Fire
Controling Weather
Stealing someone’s powers and using them.

Which one out of these?
Oh, and the invisibility thing.

English to Arabic translation?

lugesya asked:

if there would be someone(an arabic native speaker) who knows a bit of turkish ,it would be better for him/her to translate this turkish poem.Nevertheless i will translate it into turkish.
Ok here you go :

Bakakalırım giden geminin ardından;
Atamam kendimi denize, dünya güzel;
Serde erkeklik var, ağlayamam….

i stare in wonder behind the ship you went in
i can not dive into the sea,the life is nice
i have maleness in my blood,i cant cry…

having maleness in one’s blood is a turkish idiom means ”i am a male so sometimes i keep in secret some feelings of me” and many guys sometimes say ”okey it is up to you ,bye bye ” after their girl friends break up with them…and we say in this situation for the guy ”Ayrılma benden diyemedi çünkü serde erkekliği var (he wasnt able to say that he was really unhappy for the break up because he has maleness in his blood)…, hope that helps…And i am searching for an idiom in arabic language matching the colour of this turkish idiom…
Thanks in advance.
pc:if there is someone to answer this, please do write in arabic scripts….
and i want it to be translated in palestian accent..
