where can i sell my stories, poems and script ideas?
I live in England, and have Millions (not millions) of film ideas and have started writing a few of them out, I am not dedicated to any of them though and flit between them all, i would like to sell some of my babies so i can:
a) focus on fewer script ideas
b) have money so i can dedicate more of my day writing scripts, novels etc.
I have many novel ideas too but have been focusing on my film ideas because i feel there is more money in films, No one pays to go and see a book, do they? (I am sure that there are famous books that people pay to see, please do not correct me on this unless your ego demands it). I basically want to make my bucks then do it purely for the art of it. I have written lots of short stories and poems to sell too and am finding short story websites rubbish im afraid to say, would a publisher buy short stories or poems or collections of either or would me being a complete unknown be far too risky for them? I am totally ignorant of selling my work so any tips hither or thither would be fantastic, but mostly i want to know, who will buy my roses? thanks in advance to any useful tip bringers to my question of many branches.
NB. this is not an example of my finest work.

How can I think of a creative short story from these starting sentences?
His/Her face showed strain but was equally elated..
She/He/I walked into the shop holding a wallet bulging with credit cards and crisp wads of cash…
She/He/I hated being singled out but took careful note of what was being said…
What kind of things should I incorporate into my short story?
If you don’t feel you should give me ideas then can you at least, please, answer this:
And what in your opinion makes a good short story?

Do you know a short story about someone finding a letter in an old desk?
This was a story in a book I read as a young teen. It was a book of short ghost stories by various authors, maybe a Scholastic paperback. In the story, someone finds an old letter in a secret compartment of an old desk. They go to the address on the letter, but it isn’t there anymore. They go to the post office to try to find out more. I don’t know what ends up happening, but I was wondering if anyone knows the story, author, or a place where I could find out. Thanks!

What was the short story where after a nuclear war in the future machines still ran?
The story told of robots that continued cleaning and making food long after the humans were gone. It had passages that told of the silhouettes burned into the side of the house and a sick dog that dies in a house and the machine comes and carries him off. I read it in school and cannot remember the title or the author for the life of me.
I know it now. Thank you wiki. Best answer to the first person who answers correctly.
