How do I format this script (easy 10 points for script writers)?

Script Writing Tips
Jack N asked:

I am sort of new to script writing and am trying to format one scene withe lots of cuts
My actor is talking, standing in front of a door and he pauses for a while, while a clip plays which is relevant to what he is saying. The clips are usually short so I have been writing:

Actor is standing in front of door
ACTOR
I blah blah blah blah car racing.
CUT TO:
Bob is racing in a car.
BOB
I like eggs and figs
CUT TO:
Actor is standing in front of door.
Actor
I was two.

This has been going on, with lots of short clips, is there a way I could stop saying “Actor is standing in front of door.” and “Bob is in a car”? It is getting very repetitive.
Also I’ve been making a DARE video for a school and have a scene that I would like shortened
int.
Ben’s house – kitchen – day

Guy 1 in front of cabinet.
Guy 1

Alcohol is found in many beverages such as: wine, beer, and liquor. One bottle of beer has about the same amount of alcohol as a glass of wine, or a shot glass of liquor.

CUT TO:
Guy 3 is standing in the same kitchen

Guy 3 appears to be drinking a bottle of beer. He lowers the beer and gives the “thumbs up” sign.

“=” appears on a black screen.
CUT TO:
Guy 1

(from off screen)

AARRRT!
Guy 2 is standing in a kitchen.
Guy 2is drinking a glass of wine.

“=” appears on a black screen.

CUT TO:
Guy 2 is standing in a kitchen
Guy 2 is drinking a shot of liquor, quickly.
CUT TO:
Guy 1 is standing in front of a door.
Guy1

That’s enough alcohol to make anyone drunk. And hey, by the way, when people are drunk, the have slow reflexes and loss of coordination. People could have memory lapses and talk with slurred speech. People also have poor judgment and a lack of self control when they have taken too much alcohol.

Also, does anyone have any tips for beginning screen writers?
Thanks

Getting My First Tattoo. Advice Please?

Script Writing Tips
KandieMae asked:

I am getting my first tattoo tomorrow. It is going to be a short bible scripture on my mid/lower back, simple script writing and all in black. First, I have already started taking zinc and vitamin c, to promote healing. What else should I do to prepare? What should I expect at the parlor? What should I expect during the tattooing process? What will the pain feel like (I have gotten many piercings, how would the types of pain compare)?
Any aftercare tips? What worked for you?
Also, the artist said that the cost will be about $100, what should I give as a tip?
Any other advice (remember, this is my first ink-sperience!) would help…
Thank you!
I have never been stung by a bee, or gotten scratched by a cat so I honestly don’t know how those feel LOL. My piercings hurt for a second while they were getting done, but I forgot about the pain when I saw the results. And unfortunately, I will have to go alone.
Got it done! it ended up being bigger than originally planned, but looks perfect. I ended up holding my breath for the first 2 letters and it made me feel really dizzy and sick :( so I took deep breaths the rest of the time. As soon as the needle came off there was no pain. Doesn’t hurt or feel weird at all… thanks for the advice everyone! I’ll let you guys choose best answer, cause you all gave great answers! God Bless!

Writing TV drama?

Script Writing Tips
RunningBear asked:

Does anyone have any tips for structuring serial drama for TV?

I know about script writing in general. My concerns are with the overall structure of the story, and the structure within each episode.

For example, when you write a film screenplay or a novel, you want to get everything set up within the first quarter of the story, right? But the first quarter of, say, an eight part series is the end of the second episode, and I’m guessing you need to work a bit quicker than that!

Any advice welcome. Thanks!

I need helpful ideas/tips on becoming a good story-teller, a script writer, a screewriter?

Script Writing Tips
quilm asked:

I used to be into business before, but over the last 1 year have become something of a writer. But, my writing severely lacks creativity because of the technical nature of my brain.

Still, it’s a great desire in me to see myself as a successful screenwriter in Hollywood someday in future. So, I need to start over from the basics, the ABC’s of good story-telling that is crucial ingredient in developing this skill further. Time is not a constraint as I am willing to dedicate months and even a few years to sharpen this skill. I just need some helpful tips on how to get started at all.

All those of you who give some valuable instructions and hints today, I would definitely remember you all in my Academy Awards acceptance speech, lol..any useful website links would also do.

Script writing and storytelling requires an out-of-the-box imagination, and an ability to flesh out characters, and “breathe” life into them. GREAT TIPS: but how does that translate for a novice like me.

I am REALLY into screenwriting and the whole film industry. I have already written one script and two minor ones, but I don’t think my technique is quite right. Does anyone know a good website that teaches you all the basics and not so basics of script writing?
Also does anyone have any of their own scripts I can read? I would love to read them and give my advice where it is wanted.

Script writing advice: rock album to rock opera?

Script Writing secrets
Black Holes & Revelations asked:

I was listening to an album I purchased recently and really started to pick up on the storyline and symbolism within the lyrics and sound. Then I started thinking about The Who’s “Tommy” and the recent proposal to turn Green Day’s “American Idiot” into a musical (and of course ABBA’s “Mamma Mia!”). Eventually these thoughts presented me with the idea of scripting out a rock opera for one of my favorite albums. I have a little background in poetic/song writing, musical theater and stage production, but not so much in script writing…so now to my questions:
1. Does anyone know of any other album-to-stage productions?
2. Does anyone have advice on the gradual inclusion of songs into a story? This may be the secret of all good musicals…but…yeah, build up is key. People really don’t randomly burst into song, and a musical is crap with this sort of randomness.
3. Any other advice?
