What is the story behind Neptune and Amphitrite?

In all major art works of Neptune and Amphitrite they are mainly called the “Triumph of Neptune and Amphitrite” and I’m wondering what the story behind the art work is. I’ve searched for a long time online and in the books but they just describe the art, not the story behind in the mythology.

Also, this may be a long shot, but there’s a mosaic called “Poseidon and Amphitrite Led Across the Sea”, it’s located in Pompeii but I have yet to find the specific house, any one know which house it’s in?
