I’m also a writer, and I’ve heard the best way is to get an agent. There are screenwriting competitions that you can google.
Also, if you’re planning on submitting your script to a company, make sure you copyright it. If you send it in and it’s decent, there’s a good chance that it will get stolen unless you have the power to prevent it.
Probably not as lucrative as one might think. Why do think all those writers went on strike for so long. I think they are under appreciated, they should make as much as the actors.

Let’s put it this way ! Larry David a writer and producer on “Seinfeld” banked some $250,000,000 when the rights to Seinfeld were sold for syndication. Also keep in mind that if a show’s a hit, then there’s royalties to be made as well so yes writing for tv or movies can be very lucrative !
