Having Trouble With My Script. Any Tips?
Hi everyone! I’m having some trouble with my script. During Christmas break I got bored and decided to try to write a comical video game script (Yup, I’m a dork, lol.) about two cats who have a twisted adventure. The working title is cleverly called “Snarky and Squeamish’s Twisted Adventure.” Haha, like I said it’s the working title. I thought about in the script actually making fun of the title. Here’s a part of the script…
Snarky – I’m so sick of this twisted adventure…Hey that sounds pretty cool!
Squeamish – Yeah, that’s clever! I like it.
Snarky – Anyway…
The script constantly makes fun of video games, especially the N64 and PS1 platformers. I guess the humor is a mix of the show Arrested Development and the N64 video game Conker’s Bad Fur Day (Though without the constant crude humor, lol). Anyway to my question… My two main characters (Snarky and Squeamish) are becoming too similar. They seem to be the exact same character. I wanted Snarky to be the well, the snarky one, lol, and Squeamish to be the squeamish one! But the more I get into the script the more similar they get. They both seem too sarcastic and nervous. Has anyone else had similar problems? I’ve been thinking about having a running gag in the script on how everyone they meet on their adventure thinks that they are related. The two cats always get upset and start arguing how they look and act nothing alike, and near the end of the game the players find out they are actually related.
Sorry I’m rambling. Does anyone have some tips on how to make these characters two different characters? Thanks so much!
